A last minute hotel booking app has recently been launched in the UK, which aims to help ease the problem of occupancy rates in hotels around the UK by matching potential guests with empty rooms.
The Hot Hotels app is set to help hotels fill unoccupied rooms at short notice, allowing city workers the chance to book a last minute room for a fraction of the price and hotels to fill otherwise empty rooms.
App users will be able to search and book rooms directly – with rooms being available right up to 3am, which is great news considering recent research has indicated that the average price paid for a hotel room in the UK was £82, with an average of one in four hotel rooms being left unoccupied each night.
Conor O’Connor, co-founder of the Hot Hotels app, said on the launch: “We’re incredibly excited to be launching the Hot Hotels app here in the UK, and having already proven so popular with hotels over in Spain, we’re looking forward to helping hotels in cities around the country fill unoccupied rooms.
“The fact remains that one in four hotel rooms in the UK goes unoccupied every night, while many consumers can’t fork out the premiums often associated with booking rooms at the last minute. We aim to help both parties benefit, taking the headache away of trying to fill empty rooms and encouraging consumers to stay through reduced rates at the same time.”
Hotels looking to sign up to the service can do so using the form available on the website. Currently, over 40 hotels in cities around the UK are already signed up to the service.
Having originally launched in Spain in March 2012, the Hot Hotels app proved extremely popular with hotels and consumers alike; receiving over 50,000 downloads and facilitating thousands of last-minute hotel bookings in Spain alone. The app is free to download, and is available on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry operating platforms.
