Doubletree by Hilton to open first York hotel

Hilton has signed a franchise agreement with Leisurepoint, a subsidiary of Shiva Hotels, to open York’s first Doubletree by Hilton-branded property.

An investment of £6m into The York city centre hotel will convert the existing building into a Hilton-style property. The development will be completed across two stages, with the latest renovations increasing the room count to 140.

Later this year, a new fitness centre, reception area and dining concept will be unveiled.

Graham Usher, general manager, said: “The conversion under DoubleTree by Hilton is a milestone in the hotel’s 27-year history. The latest round of redevelopment will ensure DoubleTree by Hilton York’s place as one of the finest hotels in this city’s centre.”

The establishment will join the hotel brand in autumn this year.
