Glasgow hotel scoops double award at IHG European Awards

A top Glasgow hotel has won a brace of awards at the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) European Awards.

The Hotel Indigo Glasgow won the ‘Hotel of the Year’ award and its general manager, Denis MacCann also took the title of ‘General Manager of the Year’ at the ceremony held in Dublin.

Awards for the Hotel Indigo Glasgow, managed by the UK’s leading independent hotel management company Chardon Management, were joined by two Quality Excellence Awards for Holiday Express hotels at Glasgow Theatreland and the Edinburgh Royal Mile, which are also managed by Chardon.

Chardon’s portfolio includes 35 hotels and seven health and fitness clubs throughout the UK and director of Chardon Management, Nicola Taylor, said for the hotel to win the two main gongs at these hotly contested awards represented a “tremendous achievement”.

“It stands as testament to the exceptional standards of excellence achieved by Denis MacCann and his team. Indigo Glasgow is a vibrant, boutique hotel and, as the award judges acknowledged, it is much more than just another hotel in Glasgow.

“Its distinctive decor and inviting atmosphere make it unique among other Glasgow hotels – and we are delighted that it has now been recognised as the best IHG hotel in Europe – a tremendous accolade for both the hotel and Glasgow.”

She also added: “We are equally thrilled to receive a couple of Quality Excellence Awards for our Holiday Express hotels at Glasgow Theatreland and Edinburgh Royal Mile.

“These awards recognise hotels which have demonstrated 12 months of consistently high customer service and quality scores in guest satisfaction surveys and are given to only a small number of hotels across Europe.”
