An erstwhile regency arcade shopping centre in Leamington Spa has been transformed into an 82-bedroom Premier Inn hotel following a £4 million conversion.
Extensive structural alterations were undertaken to convert the grade II listed building into a hotel, including 40 tonnes of steel support.
The shopping centre’s original atrium has been retained as a feature of the new hotel, with many of the bedroom windows looking onto it.
Managing director of Sanderson’s, the project’s principal contractor, Ian Sanderson remarked: “We have seen more and more buildings being converted from one use to another as the cost of land increases.
“This was a unique and challenging project for us due to the severe structural alterations required. However, as usual the team thrived on the challenges thrown at them and completed the project with outstanding results.”
