Le Manoir appoints new executive chef

Luke Selby will replace Gary Jones on 2 January 2023 after he stepped down earlier in November after 20 years at the venue

Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, a Belmond Hotel in Oxfordshire, has announced the appointment of Luke Selby as its new executive chef effective from 2 January 2023.

It is reported that Selby returns to the restaurant after he first worked there more than a decade ago as a commis chef in 2019, under the mentorship of Raymond Blanc.

He replaces Gary Jones who stepped down earlier in November after 20 years working at the venue.

Selby currently oversees Evelyn’s Table alongside his brothers Nathaniel and Theodore. He will be succeeded in his role at Evelyn’s Table by James Goodyear once he starts his work as Le Manoir’s executive chef.

Selby said: “Le Manoir is such a special place to me for many reasons and this feels like a true homecoming. I am honoured to be taking up the helm here alongside Raymond and I am very excited about continuing and building upon the legacy of this incredible establishment with my brothers Nathaniel and Theodore by my side.”

Blanc said: “The cuisine here will remain in our style; it is still Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir. But Luke will bring new ideas. We’re looking to the future and responding to the modern diners of today.

“Food never stays static. I’m not interested in fashion, but I have such huge respect for Luke. He’s creative, soulful, and a good leader, and I’m excited for the future.”
