Restaurant 1890 at The Savoy receives first Michelin star

Located in The Savoy Hotel overlooking the Savoy Court, the venue pays ‘a subtle homage’ to chef Georges Auguste Escoffier

The Savoy’s Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay has been awarded its first Michelin Star, after opening its doors in February 2022.

Located in The Savoy Hotel overlooking the Savoy Court, Restaurant 1890 is Ramsay’s third restaurant in this London location and pays “a subtle homage” to chef Georges Auguste Escoffier.

The restaurant’s executive head chef, James Sharp, has previously worked under the mentorship of chef patron Matt Abe at 3 Michelin Star Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.

Following time spent at Ramsay’s one star restaurant Petrus, Sharp opened Restaurant 1890 in 2022.

Sharp said: “Although this is very much a dream come true for me, we are a team here at 1890, and this incredible honour is for every single person who contributes so much to the restaurant every day.”
