The Talbot Hotel, a Grade II listed property located in the heart of Stourbridge, West Midlands, has been sold to a hospitality operator based in Birmingham for an undisclosed sum.Owned by Westbourne Leisure, The Talbot Hotel was sold as part of their strategic move to focus on other hospitality assets within their portfolio.
Dating back to the 1630s, the hotel is located in a prime position on the high street of Stourbridge.
The property, featuring 57 en-suite rooms that were recently refurbished, also features a restaurant as well as a large ballroom ideal for hosting events.
The hotel reopened in the summer of 2023 following an extensive refurbishment and has seen steady improvement in its business performance.
The new owner said: “The Talbot Hotel’s longevity and central location in the town, and potential for growth made it an exciting addition to our portfolio. We are looking forward to taking the reins of such an iconic property in Stourbridge building on the hard work that’s already been done.”
Josh Sullivan, associate director in Colliers’ Hotels Agency team which handled the sale, added: “The process was handled on an off-market basis, and we received significant interest from several operators. The Talbot offered a large quantum of bedrooms in a compelling trading location at a sensible price point.
“Despite the economic headwinds, we are continuing to witness strong demand for large provincial hotels, particularly in the Midlands, due to the dearth of opportunities. This sale takes us to approximately 41 hotels completed since January with many more due to transact before Christmas.”
