Travelodge has exchanged contracts with Waterperry Court Developments Ltd to construct a new Travelodge hotel in the centre of Banbury.
Construction commenced this month and an opening of the new Travelodge hotel is targeted for the start of 2026.
Banbury Travelodge will comprise 87 rooms and the Group’s in-house restaurant, 85 Bar Cafe.
Banbury Travelodge will be the company’s 10th hotel in Oxfordshire where it also has its head office.
Oxfordshire remains a key target area for Travelodge’s Development Team, with the company actively seeking to expand its UK estate.
The budget hotel chain has a requirement to open a further five hotels in the region, with locations including Abingdon, Carterton, Henley-on-Thames, Oxford and Wantage.
Steve Bennett, chief property and development officer, said: “Travelodge is continuing its expansion of its network of hotels across the UK and we are particularly excited to be developing our first hotel in Banbury. We will enter into a new lease to operate this new hotel in the area, which we are certain will be a fantastic addition to our expanding hotel portfolio.
“We already operate nine Travelodge hotels in Oxfordshire, as well as having our Head Office in Thame. We see further significant potential to grow our brand across the county and are actively seeking development opportunities in five further locations in the region. We are open to a range of development types, such as office conversions, acquisitions of going concerns and forward funded new developments, and are keen to explore all available opportunities.”
Travelodge has a portfolio of over 600 hotels and over 47,000 bedrooms across the UK, Ireland and Spain.
