Chedi Hospitality launches first branded residences in Saudi Arabia

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Chedi Hospitality has launched its first branded residences in Saudi Arabia with the unveiling of 20 luxury villas in Wadi Safar, part of Diriyah Company’s wider masterplan.

The Chedi Residences Wadi Safar have been designed by Danish architecture practice Bjarke Ingels Group and are integrated into the natural cliffs of the area. Each villa has four or five bedrooms and views over a golf course designed by Greg Norman.

Owners will have access to a residents’ club, fitness and wellness facilities, private dining and retail, as well as spaces for events. An 85-room Chedi hotel is also planned nearby.

Jerry Inzerillo, group chief executive of Diriyah Company, said: “Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 calls for destinations that honour heritage while embracing the future. At Diriyah, we are proud to partner with Chedi Hospitality to bring this vision to life.

“The Chedi Residences Wadi Safar will not only be an address of prestige, but a lifestyle defined by cultural connection, architectural excellence and soulful living.”

Chedi Hospitality, which operates hotels and resorts in Oman, Switzerland and Montenegro, described the Saudi launch as an important step in its global expansion.

Stephan Schupbach, chief executive of Chedi Hospitality, added: “Our vision has always been to create sanctuaries that offer peace, belonging, and cultural connection, while responding to the lifestyle needs of today’s residents.

“Limited to 20 villas, they represent both a rare investment opportunity and the pride of ownership in one of the Kingdom’s most distinguished addresses.”

The residences are located within 25 minutes of Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, which developers said placed 70% of the world’s population within eight hours’ flying time.
