In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Caledonian Leisure has announced that it has purchased the 104-bedroom Broadway Park Hotel in the wonderful seaside resort of Sandown on the Isle of Wight.

Following the acquisition, the property will be renamed as The Caledonian Island Hotel – a title chosen to reflect the company’s affection for, and strong connection to, the Isle of Wight.

The hotel is scheduled to reopen in February 2026, welcoming both coach package and self-drive guests.

The hotel becomes the sixth property to join the growing Caledonian Hotel Collection, which already includes destinations in Torquay, Blackpool, Scarborough, Arrochar, and most recently, Callander.

This latest acquisition follows a significant investment in The Caledonian Thistle Hotel in Callander, which reopened in August after a major refurbishment. Occupancy for 2025 is already exceeding projections, with excellent feedback from customers who’ve stayed there.

Graham Rogers, managing director at Caledonian Leisure, said: “After the success of The Caledonian Hotel Collection in other key UK locations, we’re thrilled to welcome another beautiful hotel to our portfolio. The former Broadway Park Hotel is a key addition to our collection, and we’re confident our customers will be delighted to see it become part of the Caledonian family.”

David McDonald, director at Caledonian Leisure, added: “The Isle of Wight is a wonderful holiday destination, and our customers always share fantastic feedback about their visits. We’re proud to bring this historic property into our collection and will soon begin recruiting local team members to deliver the exceptional warmth and hospitality that Caledonian is known for.”

Caledonian Leisure Ltd is a holiday company comprising Caledonian Travel and UKBreakaways.com.
