Dalata opens shared service centre in Cork

Current operations at the centre focus on finance transformation and centralising administration across the group’s 56 hotels in Ireland, the UK and continental Europe

In this episode we speak to Daniel Kyriakides, a partner at law firm Reed Smith. We discuss why private members’ clubs are experiencing a resurgence and what that means for the future of the hotel sector. From heritage buildings being reimagined as lifestyle destinations to hotels borrowing the experiential playbook of members’ clubs, we discuss how the lines between the two are becoming increasingly blurred, and why global growth is on the horizon for the private members club model.

Dalata Hotel Group has opened a renovated shared service centre in Parnell Place, Cork. The office occupies a previously unused space within a building that has been part of the Maldron Hotel since 2019.

The centre was established in 2017 with one employee and now has a team of 20. The new facility provides enough capacity for more than 45 staff members to support the growing company.

Current operations at the centre focus on finance transformation and centralising administration. This work covers the 56 hotels within the group across Ireland, the UK and continental Europe.

According to Dalata’s management team, the facility provides improved scalability, control and data gathering. The move is intended to increase efficiency and innovation across the group’s international hotel portfolio.

Dermot Crowley, chief executive of Dalata, said: “The opening of our Cork shared services centre marks a proud milestone in the Dalata journey. From its beginnings in 2017 as a one-person operation, it has grown into a dynamic, high-performing team that plays a vital role in how we operate today.

“The SSC team brings expertise, agility and an incredible team spirit to everything they do – helping us deliver on our growth ambitions across Ireland, the UK and Europe.”

He added: “Congratulations to everyone who has played a part in this success – and wishing you all the very best in this exciting next chapter.”
