A south Devon hotel, the Quayside, has fallen into administration after closing for refurbishment in 2022.

Located on Kings Street, overlooking Brixham Harbour in Devon, the historic hotel announced its plans for refurbishment four years ago, with plans to upgrade its guest facilities. Originally, scheduled to reopen in 2025, the hotel will now remain closed, following an administration notice published by The Gazette- the official public records.

According to the notice published on 8 June 2026, joint administrators from Richard J Smith and Co, Jonathan David Trembath and Samuel Adam Bailey, have been appointed toover the process from the Ivybridge, Devon offices.

In a post published on Facebook in 2024, progress appeared to be moving forward, as the hotel said: “The refurbishment project is well underway, and we are working hard on renovating from top to bottom. Stay tuned for sneak peeks, updates and an official reopening date as we get closer and closer to welcoming you all back to the Quayside.” However, the hotel never reopened, and will now remain permanently closed.

Hotel Owner has contacted the administrators for comment.
