Britannia Hotels has reported a 19% increase in turnover to £115.4m, four months after being rated the “worst” hotel chain in the UK for the seventh year in a row.
In the year ended 31 March 2019, the hotel group, which operates over 60 hotels reported profits before tax of £19.3m, a decrease of 7% compared with the same period last year.
The group also added seven new hotels to its portfolio during the period, which included the 175-bedroom Coylumbridge hotel in the Scottish Highlands.
The hotel group also stated that it aims to “increase profitability via tightly controlled management of costs.”
In October last year, Britannia was voted the “worst” hotel chain in the UK by Which?, after customers gave it an average score of 39%.
The consumer charity reported that customers described the company’s hotel as “dirty” and “neglected”, with 44% of guests said they experienced an issue or problem during their stay.
