Starwood Hotels

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide was a major global hospitality group, known for brands such as Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, St. Regis, and Le Méridien. In 2016, it was acquired by Marriott International, forming the world’s largest hotel company. In the UK, Starwood Capital Group, a separate investment firm founded by Barry Sternlicht, has been active in hotel acquisitions and development. Notable transactions include the purchase of 10 Radisson Blu Edwardian hotels in London in 2024, and the earlier acquisition of Principal Hayley, De Vere Venues, and Four Pillars Hotels, which were consolidated into a 50-property portfolio before being sold to Foncière des Régions in 2018. This archive provides insights into Starwood’s legacy, brand transitions, and ongoing investment activities within the UK hospitality sector.
