The Moorland Retreat in Tavistock has been brought to the market for £800,000, on behalf of UK children’s Charity Go Beyond.
The property has most recently been utilised as a holiday accommodation by Go Beyond, which offers rural retreats for children who are living difficult lives.
However, Savills has been instructed to sell the property as it “no longer fits with the charity’s strategic plans” and is offered for sale to support the future ambitions of the charity.
The Moorland Retreat is situated on Dartmoor and extends to c.10.5 acres of gardens, paddock and pasture.
The Devon Longhouse currently comprises six en suite bedrooms on the first floor and two bedrooms on the ground floor, as well as seven offices within the building that could be converted to provide up to 12 bedrooms in total.
There is also a dining room, lounge, conservatory, commercial kitchen, plant rooms and offices on the ground floor.
Located in the converted barn attached to the main building are shower rooms, an indoor swimming pool and dance hall/games room. In addition, there is a one bedroom, en suite annexe with a living room adjacent to the main building.
The charity was founded in the South West and provides breaks for children from Devon, further afield at their Coastal Centre in Cornwall and now also operate a second retreat in Derbyshire.
Harriet Fuller, associate in the Hotel Capital Markets team at Savills Exeter, said: “This is an extremely attractive opportunity to acquire a former Charity Hostel and offices set in a 10.5 acre estate comprising a large Devon Longhouse, one bedroom annexe, and a wide array of modern barns.
“There are significant development opportunities subject to planning permissions.”
