UK hotel group, Cairn Group, has appointed new northern operations director, Michael Sheldon, to help accelerate expansion within the business.
Sheldon brings nearly 20 years’ experience of leadership roles within the industry, shaping the brand, culture and overall expansion of “several” luxury hotels, resorts and Michelin star restaurants across London, Leeds and Manchester.
According to the group, Sheldon will be responsible for all areas of operations across Cairn Group’s northern venues, including Redworth Hall Hotel, Elmbank Hotel, and Harrogate Majestic Hotel.
The firm added that Sheldon joins the business with “extensive knowledge” of the industry and a track record in delivering profitability and strong leadership through his deep understanding of guest needs and his ability to lead and support people and projects.
Sheldon said: “Cairn Hotel Group has an impressive portfolio of hotel and restaurant brands nationwide, so the opportunity to support the growth of the venues in the North after a challenging couple of years across the hospitality sector is one that’s incredibly exciting.
“I’ve always had a passion for good food and wine, developing people and excellent customer service, so I can’t wait to get stuck in with the team.”
Richard Adams, Cairn Group HR director, added: “Michael has a wealth of knowledge, notable experience, and a passion for hospitality, making him the perfect fit for our business. He has worked in some fantastic locations across the UK during his career and with his values, we’re confident that he will lead and drive our northern properties to achieve great things.”
