The Eyes Mouth Hotel, which sits along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, has been sold to independent buyers, Syed Hossain and Arifa Kalam, for £1.25m on a freehold basis.
Hossain has amassed 15 years’ experience in the hotel industry, having held senior roles in properties across the UK and Europe, including IHG, Staycity Group, Hilton and Accor.
Both Hossain and Kalam will work together to further grow Eype’s Mouth Country Hotel and to establish it as a destination that the local community can enjoy.
The hotel’s previous owners, Kevin and Glenis, have a wealth of experience in the hotel industry which they have brought to the hotel since acquiring the property in 2004. However, they are now looking to retire and pass the business on to new hands after 18 years of ownership.
The hotel is arranged over three floors and features guest facilities including 17 ensuite bedrooms, a coastal lounge, a sea view restaurant and two bars. Set in the village of Eype, near Bridport, the hotel offers sea views of the UNESCO World Heritage coastline and sits within a few minutes’ walk to the beach.
Christie and Co handled the sale, and received 11 offers after the hotel launched to the market.
Hossain said: “We are excited with our purchase, and will be working tirelessly to enhance the guest experience at this beautiful coastal property. Further details will be announced later in the year.”
Previous owners, Kevin and Glenis, added: “Whilst we look forward to retirement, the hotel, its guests and fantastic team of staff will be much missed. We are delighted that all our achievements over the past 18 years in offering a high standard of hospitality, will be retained and enhanced by the experience and commitment of Syed and Arifa.”
Stephen Champion, director in Christie an Co’s Hotel team, said: “The business presents significant opportunity for the new owners to build upon. As such, the hotel was extremely popular when it went up for sale, attracting interest and offers from a wide variety of buyers.
“We wish the new owners, Syed and Arifa every success with their new business venture and look forward to seeing how the hotel is developed over the coming years.”
