Marine and Lawn Hotels and Resorts has acquired The Dornoch Hotel in Scotland, with the property set to join the group’s collection of bespoke hotels located in golf destinations.
Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partner will reposition the 122-room hotel as Dornoch Station hotel, the hotel’s original name dating back to 1902 (the Station Hotel).
The hotel is now closed and it will undergo “comprehensive” renovations over the next several months across all guest rooms, public spaces, exterior and grounds, including the installation of a putting green, fire pits and additional outdoor amenities.
The fully renovated property will offer 89 more rooms and the hotel is expected to reopen in the summer of 2023. The interior design of the property will be led by AJ Capital’s in-house design team and will pay homage to the property’s history, neighbouring community, and “scenic” views.
Positioned in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and a short walk to the first tee of Royal Dornoch Golf Club, the Dornoch Station hotel is the fifth property in the Marine and Lawn collection.
The acquisition marks Marine and Lawn’s fourth in Scotland and its first in the Scottish Highlands.
Phillip Allen, president of Marine and Lawn Hotels and Resorts, said: “We are thrilled to expand the Marine and Lawn collection with the addition of the Dornoch Station hotel.
“Few golf courses in the world can match Royal Dornoch’s excellence and character, and we are eager to welcome many of its visitors to our hotel. We’re honoured to be stewards of historic properties such as Dornoch Station and look forward to continuing its legacy for many years to come.”
