A 50-bedroom hotel located in Great Yarmouth has been sold to HH Hotels off of a guide price of £1.5m.
The Comfort Hotel, formerly known as the Regency Dolphin, is a three-star 50-bedroom property with restaurant, bar, and the only accommodation with enclosed private gardens.
Renowned for attracting an “array” of business and leisure guests, as well as hosting civil wedding ceremonies, it can hold up to 80 guests for a wedding breakfast and 120 in the evening.
The hotel has been owned and operated by The SKC Group, a nationwide hotel operator for more than 25 years. After almost three decades in the hospitality industry, the chairman of the group, Sanjeev Choraria has sold The Comfort Hotel to retire.
HH Hotels is a nationwide hotel operator with a large network of occupiers and investors across England. It said it will “continue to build upon the existing reputation of the popular seafront business” following the purchase, which completes another acquisition in Norfolk as it looks expand its portfolio in the region.
Sanjeev from The SKC Group said: “The Comfort Hotel is a longstanding hotel on the Great Yarmouth seafront which has continued to be popular with tourists from across the UK and abroad. Naturally it received substantial interest and many viewings and a variety of offers but we went with the most suitable buyer who aligns with our business model.”
Josh Sullivan, associate director for the Hotel Agency team at Colliers, who handled the sale, added: “Despite the economic headwinds, hotels positioned in key coastal resort towns remain an attractive investment proposition due to the continued strength of the UK staycation market. This purchase was an excellent choice for HH hotels and provides ample opportunity for investment to enhance and reposition the establishment in the future.”
