The Machrie, the luxury gold hotel on the Isle of Islay, Argyll, has announced the appointment of Ian Ferguson as its new general manager.
In his new role, he will be responsible for further elevating the hotel’s guest experience and continuing to drive awareness and revenue at the property.
Ferguson joins the hotel team with over 30 years of experience as a leader in the hotel, golf and sports industries in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Most recently, he held the position of general manager at Dundonald Links for over seven years, where he managed the hotel and golf operations.
Before that, Ferguson was director of hospitality for four years at Loch Lomond Golf Club, a private member’s golf club.
The appointment comes after The Machrie’s championship golf links recently ranked as 75th in the world at the Golf World’s Top 100, as well as listed as one of Condé Nast Traveller’s Top 30 UK hotels in the Readers’ Choice Awards.
Ferguson said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining The Machrie as general manager. It is an exceptional property in a truly spectacular location and I am very much looking forward to working alongside such a dedicated and talented team of staff.
“We will continue to evolve and improve the quality of the guest experience in one of the most unique golf and hospitality venues in Scotland and beyond.”
