Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa has announced the promotion of Ashley Torr to the position of general manager.

Bishopstrow is a Wiltshire-based country house hotel and has recently undergone an extensive rebrand, relaunched in June 2023 with designed rooms, landscaped grounds and an “extensive” no-dig kitchen garden.

The promotion comes as recognition of “Torr’s invaluable contributions to the team at Bishopstrow and the significant impact he has made since the hotel’s acquisition two years ago and throughout the rebrand”.

During his time at Bishopstrow, the hotel said he has played a “pivotal role” in enhancing various aspects of the hotel and his “positive influence is evident through the improvements in team dynamics, guest satisfaction and commercial performance”.

As Bishopstrow continues on its journey, Torr will be taking on greater responsibilities within the day-to-day operations of the hotel, bringing a “deep understanding and unique vision” to guide the team towards these goals.

Torr said of his promotion: “I’m so pleased to be continuing my growth at Bishopstrow as I advance to the next stage of my career in hospitality. Having the opportunity to lead the team at such a pivotal time for the hotel is an exciting challenge. I love the playful, eclectic style of Bishopstrow and I can’t wait to bring my own creativity and passion to the role.”

Jonathan Walker, director of Bishopstrow, added: “Ashley’s promotion to General Manager is well earnt and hugely deserved. He is both popular and highly respected in equal measures and has been at the centre of Bishopstrow’s repositioning and standing as one of the UK’s most important and revered country hotels.

“Ashley has exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, combined with his innate understanding of our guests’ needs has undoubtedly contributed to the hotel’s success and reputation. In his DNA is a love of the hospitality industry and is the perfect senior employee to lead our hotel into an even brighter future.”
