He began his career in hospitality as a beverage manager in Washington, DC and went to manage the operations for several of DC’s most renowned restaurants including working for Nobel Prize nominee chef Jose Andres.

After relocating from his native New York City to London, Horn began his career in the UK as a restaurant director for Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, before overseeing multiple properties over the past couple of years as operations manager for the D&D Restaurant group and director of food and beverage at Ennismore.

Horn joins the business at an opportune time as it begins a new chapter of development following the hotel’s recent rebrand from The Hard Rock Hotel back to its former identity as The Cumberland.

As part of the development, Horn will oversee the expansion of the hotel’s food and beverage venues.

Horn said: “As such an iconic London destination with a star-studded history, I am excited to join The Cumberland as the new food and beverage director and look forward to taking Sound and the hotel’s F&B offering to the next level. There is a great deal on the horizon for the venue as we continue to offer our beloved brunches and shows, alongside some exciting new additions.”

Julie Hammond, general manager of The Cumberland, added: “We’re delighted to have James on board as we continue to expand our curated offering at SOUND, across food, drink and entertainment. James comes with fantastic experience and we’re excited that he has joined the team.”
