Room2 secures permission for development of fourth ‘hometel’

Hometel brand Room2, part of the Lamington Group, has announced it will open its fourth site in Chiswick, West London after securing planning permission.

Work on the hometel will begin in Q2 2019 and is set to open in Q4 2020. The site follows the launch of Room2 Hammersmith in 2016 and Room2 Southampton in June 2018, with Room2 Manchester to open in late-2020.

The Chiswick hometel will offer 78 rooms, over four floors and a basement, comprising multiple room layouts; a shared ‘living room’ with bar, café, lobby and work space, which opens onto Windmill Road, as well as a gym and laundry.

It will occupy the site of a disused office building, which will be be demolished and replaced with brick exterior in keeping with the architecture of the area. Project Orange are the appointed architect and design team, which also designed Room2 Southampton.

Room2 has been able to proceed with the development after going through an extensive planning appeal process. An owned site, the Lamington Group team will develop and manage the hometel – in keeping with the brand’s ethos of creating a long-term relationship with the community in which the hometel is situated.

Robert Godwin, founder of Room2 and managing director of property business Lamington Group, said: “We’re so excited to be growing and expanding the hometel concept further. It’s proving to be highly successful in Southampton, and guests can expect the same and more in Chiswick. We’re also keen to continue our expansion plans and welcome enquiries from interested partners and/or investors to join us on our mission to transform the long-stay apart-hotel market across the UK.”
