The Montenotte Hotel in Cork, Ireland, has launched its new €7.5m (£6.4m) Woodland Suite Experience, featuring nine Woodland Suites and River Suites, along with an exclusive residents-only Clubhouse. Nestled on a hilltop, these suites offer breathtaking views of the River Lee, Cork Harbour, and Cork City. Complete with luxurious amenities such as Italian travertine floors, free-standing baths, and private terraces, the hotel aims to provide guests with a sense of rebellious luxury and a complete escape from the ordinary. Owners Frankie and Jo Whelehan express their commitment to contributing to the local community, while general manager Frits Potgieter emphasises the hotel’s focus on encouraging guests to embrace wanderlust and indulge in curated experiences throughout their stay.

Providence Hotels has appointed Julio de Carvalho as the new general manager overseeing The Old Quay House Hotel in Fowey and The Rosevine Hotel in Portscatho. Greek boutique hotel brand Ergon House is set to open its first hotel outside of Greece in Covent Garden, London. The hotel, located in a newly refurbished heritage-listed building, will offer artisanal Mediterranean products and cuisine in a Mediterranean-inspired atmosphere. With contemporary hotel rooms, a private gym, rooftop restaurant, and an Agora marketplace showcasing farm-to-table produce, Ergon House aims to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience. Britannia Hotels has reported an 18% rise in pre-tax profits to £39.3m and a 31.3% increase in group turnover to £154.7m during the year ending March 2023. Despite being ranked as the worst hotel chain in the UK for 11 consecutive years, Britannia attributes its success to increased sales and strategic decisions to attract new business. The company’s board remains confident in its ability to navigate future challenges and opportunities, despite ongoing criticism.
