Hotel Indigo Exeter has announced the appointment of Mahesh Jay as its new general manager.

With 26 years of industry experience, Jay is set to elevate the hotel’s position in Exeter’s competitive market, driving growth and enhancing guest experiences.

Jay’s extensive hospitality journey includes prestigious roles such as head chef at Novotel, Cardiff, executive chef at Taj Coromandel, and operations manager at Park Inn by Radisson, Cardiff. He has also led several high-profile properties as general manager, including Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel, DoubleTree by Hilton in Bristol, and Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel.

In his new role at Hotel Indigo Exeter, he will focus on refining the hotel’s offerings and strengthening its position as a leading player in Exeter’s hospitality scene. His leadership will be crucial in achieving the hotel’s ambitious growth goals over the next three years, which include enhancing the guest experience, fostering a culture of excellence, and further developing the in-house team.

His appointment is especially significant as Hotel Indigo Exeter embarks on a new chapter under the management of Focus Hotels. A key priority for him will be deepening the hotel’s community engagement, and forging partnerships with local businesses, artisans, and cultural organisations.

The hotel is also exploring collaborations with local farmers and producers to feature their products in its renowned outlets, Becketts Rooftop Bar and Colson’s Restaurant.

Additionally, he is committed to supporting Focus Hotels’ broader initiatives, including their partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, which aims to raise £10,000 through various fundraising efforts.

Regarding his appointment, Jay said: “I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the general manager of Hotel Indigo Exeter. This role presents an incredible opportunity to lead a talented team and enhance our guests’ experiences while celebrating the unique spirit of Exeter. My goal is to build on our strong foundation and elevate Hotel Indigo Exeter as a beacon of exceptional hospitality and community engagement.

“I look forward to working closely with our team and partners to create memorable moments and make a positive impact both within the hotel and the wider community.”
