Hotel du Vin Edinburgh has unveiled plans to undergo a £1.2m refurbishment to transform its guestrooms and boost energy efficiency.
Spearheaded by designer Anita Rosato, the refurbishment will balance the need to respect the building’s architecture whilst making necessary changes to elevate the quality of the hotel, enhance guest experience and be more sustainably efficient.
In addition to the guestroom renovations, the hotel also benefitted from substantial investments in its kitchen as part of the brand’s sustainable energy capital investment plan – the gas range was replaced with induction hobs, and the ovens and fryers were switched to electric units.
The newly designed rooms echo Edinburgh’s architecture, hills, views and colours. Incorporating Scottish heritage with features of thistles and stags, the design scheme blends “topical” wall coverings with patterned furnishings.
Ben Bel, general manager of Hotel du Vin Edinburgh, said: “I am thrilled to share the hotel’s exceptional transformation, bringing new life to a building that has played so many roles in Edinburgh’s past. It’s a privilege to manage a hotel that holds deep significance as both an architectural landmark and a respected part of the Old Town’s history.
“Every detail of this project has been carefully considered to enhance both the guest experience and sustainability, ensuring that our building and operations are more efficient moving forward. We are incredibly excited to welcome guests back to a space that blends the past with the present, and that will continue to offer the warm Scottish hospitality we are renowned for.”
Rosato added: “The renovation of Hotel du Vin Edinburgh has been one of the more complex projects I’ve worked on with the brand. The aim was to honour the building’s rich history and intricate architecture, whilst incorporating thoughtful modern upgrades and a more sustainable approach to design and consumption.
“It’s been a challenging but rewarding process, and we’re excited for guests to experience the result.”
