Old Course Hotel golf resort and spa, the luxury destination in St Andrews, has announced an extensive interior renovation of its fourth floor scheduled for completion in spring 2025.
The renovation will include Road Hole Restaurant, Road Hole Bar and Boardroom, alongside a redecoration of some suites and enhancements in select bedrooms – all while preserving the “spirit” of Scottish hospitality.
The redesign considers the hotel’s views over the Old Course and West Sands Beach, creating seating pockets throughout the Road Hole Restaurant and Bar that ensure these vistas remain a focal point while offering a more integrated dining experience. The spaces will also feature bespoke furniture manufactured in the UK and fabrics sourced from Scottish suppliers, including sofas and cocktail-height tables in the bar area.
The new design scheme includes dark blue walls in the restaurant that transition from day to night, while the Road Hole Bar will feature dark chocolate panelling complemented by leather seating.
During the renovation period, guests will continue to enjoy the hotel’s dining experiences across multiple venues, each offering its own unique twist on Scottish hospitality. Breakfast is served in The Conservatory and at The Duke’s Bar and Restaurant, Lunch options include The Conservatory, The Jigger Inn, Hams Hame, The Duke’s Bar and Restaurant, and the Spa Café, while dinner is available at The Conservatory, The Jigger Inn, and Hams Hame
This fourth-floor transformation is part of a broader series of enhancements at Old Course Hotel, including the upcoming renovation of the Kohler Waters Spa from April to late summer 2025.
The spa renovation will introduce new features such as a snow and sauna cabin, enhanced facilities, and upgraded sustainability measures.
Phyllis Wilkie, general manager, said: “This renovation exemplifies our ethos of being always evolving while remaining true to our roots. As custodians of this remarkable location, we’re creating sophisticated, comfortable spaces that better connect our guests with both each other and our spectacular home in St Andrews. Every design decision has been made with our commitment to sustainable practices and our community in mind.”
