The Netherwood Hotel in Grange-over-Sands has been sold to the Interesting Hotels Group for an undisclosed sum.
The former Victorian manor, overlooking Morecambe Bay, comprises 34 letting rooms along with conference and spa facilities. Popular with both tourists and residents, the property’s landscaped gardens are a regular setting for weddings.
The sale was handled by Colliers on behalf of North England Estates, which had owned the hotel for a decade. The property sits on nearly seven acres of land.
This acquisition brings Interesting Hotels Group’s portfolio to 11 hospitality businesses. The company bought the Riverside Hotel in Kendal in 2023, also through Colliers, and owns other properties including Llangoed Hall in Powys, Sudbury House in Oxfordshire, and Chateau Rhianfa in Anglesey.
Ulrike Le Roux, managing director of Interesting Hotels Group, said: “We are delighted to continue adding to our portfolio, and we recognise the strength of the Lake District market by adding Netherwood Hotel to our group. We look forward to welcoming the hotel’s team to the business and identifying opportunities to develop together.”
Julian Troup, head of UK hotels agency at Colliers, added: “The sale of the Netherwood Hotel follows our confidential multi-million-pound sale of the 70-bedroom Ambleside Salutation Hotel and Spa last month. The Lake District remains one of the most attractive UK regions for both tourists and investors. This transaction adds to the high volume of sales completed this year and reflects continued confidence in the UK market.”
