The Pheasant Inn in Bassenthwaite, Cumbria, has been brought to the market on behalf of a private client off a guide price of £2.5m.

Set within seven acres of its own grounds, the former staging post and coaching inn offers 15 traditionally furnished en-suite bedrooms as well as a three bedroom managers house.

The property features the two AA Rosette Fell restaurant (36 covers), offering fine dining in a formal environment, and the Bistro (42 covers). The Pheasant Inn also offers a traditional bar and guest lounge and a private dining room.

Tom Cunningham, hotels director at Savills, said: “The Pheasant Inn presents a fantastic opportunity for a new owner to acquire an historic property in one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations, with genuine opportunities to further enhance the facilities and increase revenue.”

Neil Milligan, associate at JLL added: “Opportunities to acquire freehold assets such as this in the Lake District appear all too infrequently. The Pheasant Inn will allow the incoming investor a unique opportunity to capitalise on this iconic location and add value to this long established business.”
