Hotel Café Royal has reported a 43% increase in domestic bookings during the first quarter of the year compared with the same period in 2025.
According to the luxury hotel, UK guests now represent 29% of the total geographic mix for the Regent Street property. This spells an increase from 22% recorded during the previous year.
The data also suggests a shift in travel preferences as more domestic visitors opt for city breaks in London over long-haul international travel.
Located at the junction of Mayfair and Soho, the hotel provides a range of luxury suites, a spa, and multiple dining outlets. On-site facilities include the Akasha Spa, which features an 18-metre lap pool, a sauna, and a gymnasium.
Dining options at the property include the Michelin-starred Alex Dilling, the Café Royal Grill, and Cakes and Bubbles by Albert Adrià.
The hotel also operates a programme for families which includes tailored children’s menus and equipment for younger guests.
Eugene Leonard, general manager of Hotel Café Royal, said: “We are seeing a clear uplift in domestic demand, as UK travellers increasingly rediscover the appeal of London.
“Recent global and economic events appear to have encouraged a shift toward staycations, with guests opting for shorter, more spontaneous city breaks that still deliver a sense of escape and indulgence. This trend underscores London’s enduring appeal as a destination for local travellers seeking luxury experiences without the need for long-haul travel.”
