The Standard hotel in King’s Cross has relaunched its ground-floor restaurant, Isla, as a neighbourhood wine bar and terrace.
The venue, located in the former Camden Town Hall Annex, has moved to an evening-led service model. It features a new wine programme and a Mediterranean-inspired food menu.
Isla focuses on organic and biodynamic wines, including low-intervention bottles from suppliers such as Dynamic Wines and Vine Trail. The list includes varieties such as Riesling, Chenin Blanc, and Gamay, alongside less common grapes including Jacquère and Niellucciu.
Sparkling options include traditional Champagne and French artisanal cider. White and rosé selections feature skin-contact wines and bottles from producers such as Rathfinny. Red wines range from Agiorgitiko, with premium pours available via Coravin.
The kitchen will serve seasonal plates designed for sharing. Small dishes include pumpkin fritti, stracciatella on anchovy toast, and beef tartare. Larger options from the grill include lemon sole with blood orange and beef sirloin. The menu also features lamb ragout pasta and desserts such as Yorkshire rhubarb with stem ginger ice cream.
The Standard, London opened in 2019 as the brand’s first hotel outside the United States. The 266-room property occupies a 1974 Brutalist building and houses other dining venues including Decimo and Double Standard.
