The hotel was originally opened under the O’Callaghan Hotel Group in 2017, before its acquisition by the Dalata group. It will be rebranded as the Clayton Hotel Cambridge in the coming months.
The acquisition also marks a continued expansion of UK sites for Dalata, which is the largest hotel operator in Ireland. It will operate the site under a 30-year lease, and The Ability Group will act as landlord.
The four-star hotel features a restaurant and bar, as well as meeting and conference facilities. The building, which currently features 155 bedrooms, will have an additional five rooms added under a remodelling of the site.
Dermot Crowley, deputy CEO of Dalata, said: “Cambridge has been a priority target city for our Clayton brand, and I am delighted that we have secured such a high-quality, modern hotel in the centre of the city.
“The acquisition of the leasehold interest of this hotel is another important step in our stated strategy of expanding our Maldron and Clayton brands in key cities across the UK. The property is an ideal fit for our Clayton brand, under which we now operate nine hotels across seven cities in the UK.”
He added: “We look forward to getting to work immediately, with the existing hotel management team, to bring Dalata hospitality to the visitors and residents of Cambridge.”
