Village Hotel Basingstoke officially opened its doors following a £25m development programme from Village Hotel Club, marking the groups 31st property and its latest step to open 20 new hotels by 2025.

Marking the occasion, Cllr Diane Taylor, the mayor of Basingstoke and dean, her consort, Dr. Andy Taylor and Enterprise M3 director Linda Cheung joined general manager Nalin Daud to celebrate Village’s 31st hotel opening.

The new 153-bedroom hotel features all-day dining at the Village Pub and Grill, modern co-working facilities in VWorks and a state-of-the-art Village Gym, boasting a swimming pool, sauna and steam room.

The “significant” investment in Basingstoke is part of Village Hotel Club’s £480m programme to accelerate the brand’s growth. In the past two years Village has built and launched two properties in Portsmouth and Bristol.

Construction is currently underway on a new-build in Eastleigh, and a further three new-build properties are set to follow in Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Edgbaston.

Paul Roberts, CEO at Village Hotel Club, said: “We’re thrilled to open the doors of Village Hotel Basingstoke. Unlike many hotels, Village Hotel Club offers a focal point for people to meet up, socialise, work and get fit together. We’re passionate about embedding ourselves in the local community and fulfilling the needs of Basingstoke’s local residents.”

Daud has worked with Village Hotel Club for over 14 years and has managed Village Hotel Leeds South for the past three years and has previously worked in Leeds North and Hull, where he successfully participated in the company’s Rising Star Programme for Future Leaders.

He will be joined by new director of sales, Danielle Enderson, who brings a decade of experience within the group, and Village gym manager Lucy Hicks. Arif Sadath, who has worked at several hotels in the area as well as a number of five-star venues in London, has also joined as head chef.

The hotel has employed 110 people from the local area across a wide variety of roles including personal trainers, Gym instructors, chefs and bar staff.

Daud said: “I’m very proud to have built a fantastic team who are as passionate as me about delivering fantastic customer service. The team and I have been looking forward to the opening for some time – we’re in a fantastic location and really do have something for everyone.

“We’re gearing up for a very busy 2020, and to building further local connections through our Village Green community initiative.”
