Manorview Hotels has announced that with “great regret”, it has suspended trading amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The suspension will be effective from 12 noon today (18 March), and the group is “uncertain” as to when it will be in a position to reopen and continue trade.
The group announced it has now reached out to the NHS to offer its bedrooms as a “resource where needed” as the virus continues to spread.
It noted that it had not been advised to suspend business. Instead, it has suspended trade in order to “remove some of the uncertainty that surrounds us”, and look after the health and safety of others.
The group said it was also “looking ahead” to the sustainability of its business, and ways to support its team without making any redundancies.
Amid “unprecedented times”, Manorview said that suspension is the “right thing to do” in order to protect its teams and customers, and “hopefully come back from this stronger”.
It ensured that none of its team members will be made redundant, and that its entire workforce will continue to receive 50% of their average weekly gross earnings until further notice.
While its venues and normal trading business will be closed, the administrative team will continue to operate. The group will also be maintaining the “safety and security” of its properties.
It will also operate a take-out and delivery service from some of its units, effective from next week.
In a statement, the group said: “We are currently supporting all our teams to try and protect them during this extremely difficult time, which is challenging everyone in our industry.
“We are also choosing to look at ways we can contribute to the current situation and play our part in helping those in need.”
It added: “As a business, as a team, and as individuals, we are all concerned about the health and safety of others.
“We hope you, your family and friends, are all safe and well at this moment in time, and continue to keep well, as we all work together to get through this worrying time.”
