Travelodge reopens a further 11 UK sites to support key workers

In this episode we speak to Nico Tréguer, co-founder of Roberts and Treguer and The Culpeper Family. Nico spoke about founding the group alongside his longtime friend Gareth, having had a vision for bringing more nature spaces to cities, the planned extension of The Buxton in Spitalfields, and how the site’s storytelling engages guests and the local community, how the Culpeper Family’s core sustainability ethos helped it secure its B-Corp status and why hospitality has a responsibility to educate and innovate when it comes to sustainability.

Budget hotel Travelodge has announced the reopening of 11 of its UK sites to support key workers amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Travlodge, which has 573 hotels across the UK, has been operating 51 of its hotels during the Covid-19 lockdown in critical locations across the UK – providing accommodation for critical/key workers and supporting local authorities during these unprecedented times.

These Travelodge hotels are located in major cities and towns running from Plymouth to Aberdeen and now a further 11 Travelodge hotels are being reopened to support the growing demand by key workers.

These additional 11 hotels will take the total to 62 Travelodge hotels operating across the UK to support key workers and local authorities.

As part of its re-opening hotel programme, Travelodge has taken its key learnings whilst operating in the lockdown and is launching ‘TravelodgeProtect+’, a programme of cleaning and social distancing measures in line with government guidance, designed to keep its customers and teams save and protected post lockdown.

Some measures include, protective reception screens, comprehensive cleaning throughout its hotels using an antiviral disinfectant – effective against coronavirus, all linen and towels thermally disinfected, alongside, contactless payment and check-out.

Travelodge spokeswoman, Shakila Ahmed, said: “In these unprecedented times, our hotel teams across the UK are working enormously hard, under great pressure, to support key workers and the less vulnerable groups.

“We are delighted to reopen a further 11 hotels this week which will assist our 51 hotels that have been operating during the lockdown. In addition, we are also kick-starting our nationwide hotel reopening preparation plans today so that we can start to reopen the rest of our hotels from early July.”

The 11 Travelodge hotels reopening today to support key workers include:

  • Ashford Travelodge
  • Bicester Cherwell Valley M40 Travelodge
  • Bracknell Central Travelodge
  • Bristol Filton Travelodge
  • Cockermouth Travelodge
  • Dartford Travelodge
  • Dover Travelodge
  • Maidstone Central Travelodge
  • Mansfield Travelodge
  • Ramsgate Seafront Travelodge
  • Thurrock Lakeside Travelodge
