In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

London-based Supercity Aparthotels has announced the acquisition of two new properties, located in Chancery Lane and Watford, as part of its 2015 growth plans.

Supercity, which currently has three sites in central London, has applied for planning permission to transform the former site of the Jewish Chronicle newspaper into an aparthotel of 50 luxury suites.

The aparthotel will also feature a gym, serviced offices and the existing pub located on the ground floor. The property is expected to open in 2016.

The other property – Supercity’s first outside of London – will be in Watford town centre and is scheduled to open in autumn 2015 as extended stay serviced apartments.

Alexis Burton, Supercity managing director, said: “These new acquisitions are testament to the success and hard work of the Supercity team.

“With growing understanding and demand for aparthotels amongst business travellers and tourists alike, we’re delighted to be growing and complementing our existing portfolio in and around London. We can’t wait for the doors of our fourth and fifth sites to open.”
