The Cranleigh Boutique, based in Bowness-on-Windermere, has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Use of Social Media in Marketing’ at the Hotel Marketing Awards.
The nomination comes after a successful year for the 18-bedroom hotel, winning the ‘Best use of Social Media’ award at the Travel Marketing Awards in March, and the ‘Best Use of Facebook’ award at the UK Social Media Awards in October, beating off competition from Evian, Aldi and VisitEngland.
In November, the hotel’s Facebook page amassed 100,000 ‘likes’, with one lucky follower soon to be announced the winner of the Cranleigh Boutique’s ‘Ultimate Prize’ – sole use of the hotel for an entire weekend, worth an estimated £8,500.
Stephen Hargreaves, owner, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Social Media in Marketing’ category at the Hotel Marketing Awards. This is an esteemed national event and to be placed alongside hotels such as the Radisson Blu and Gleneagles, is very flattering.
“We have had another very successful year at the Cranleigh and have worked extremely hard in fully embracing Facebook and making it work for our business. Once again, we are thrilled that the spotlight is being shone on the Lake District on a national level, in demonstrating how social media can be used successfully in promoting small businesses.”
In its 21st year, the Hotel Marketing Awards will be held at the Savoy Hotel in London on December 15 and will be all the money raised at the event to the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey.
