Headley Park hotel on the market for £2.5m

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Headley Park hotel in Hampshire has been put on the market for offers in excess of £2.5m.

Set within an estate of 40 acres including extensive lawns, lakes and woodland, the property was constructed between 1884 and 1891 and has been extended by various owners over subsequent years.

The 24-bedroom hotel features a function room, restaurant, bar and staff accommodation.  Adjacent to the property are various outbuildings, including a 3 bedroom cottage, changing block and a gardener’s cottage in the former walled garden.

Located to the far southeast corner of the site is a second, disused changing block – historically proposed to service an outdoor swimming pool although the scheme was not progressed. The grounds also include a former outdoor training area.

Paul Barrasford, director of hotels agency at Colliers International, which is handling the sale, said: “Due to the hotel sector not being our client’s principal business interest, the decision was taken to effectively close the business in early 2015.

“The property is now offered for sale on a vacant possession basis with unconditional offers in excess of £2.5m sought for the freehold interest.

“In this affluent corner of the south east, it is rare to find a vacant property as substantial as Headley Park Hotel available for sale. We anticipate the property will appeal to a broad range of buyers including those looking to reopen it as a hotel or redevelop it for, say, residential, educational or health care use.”
