The 165-bedroom Lowry hotel in Manchester has completed £4m refurbishment, following strong financial results.
The refurbishment of the five-star hotel started in September last year after it was sold by Rocco Forte Hotels in a multi-million pound deal. General manager Adrian Ellis has hailed the refurbishment as the “culmination of a remarkable transformational year.”
The refurbishment of the hotel – now owned by Westmont Hospitality and its investment partner Mount Kellett Capital Management – included the introduction of smart TVs and Wi-Fi, alongside new curtains, carpets, fabrics and colour schemes throughout the bedrooms and public areas.
The refurbishment also included the commission of original art along with Manchester’s rock history forming a key part of the decor with four large format images which greet guests in the lobby.
According to Ellis, healthy financial results in 2015 have provided the foundations for the refurbishment, which is set to be followed by a programme in 2016 to refurbish the property’s spa and banqueting suites.
He said: “We are the only hotel in the city centre named after an artist, and we are proud to celebrate not only LS Lowry, renowned for his depictions of Salford, but also by displaying contemporary artists and photographers.”
