A world renowned hotel chain has scooped the prestigious ‘World’s Leading New Resort’ award for its Algarve hotel at the World Travel Awards Grand Final 2012 Gala Ceremony.
Conrad Hotels & Resorts’ Algarve hotel – which opened late September 2012 – won the award at the ceremony held at the Oberoi Gurgaon, New Delhi in India, earlier this month where Dukes London won the ‘World’s Leading Classic Hotel’ award.
This award follows the 154-guestroom hotel also claiming the ‘Portugal’s Leading New Luxury Resort’ and ‘Europe’s Leading New Resort’ awards at the European heat of the World Travel Awards previously in the year.
The World Travel Awards acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry, and winning this award has led to the furthering of the hotel’s position as a luxury resort.
“After winning Portugal’s Leading New Luxury Resort’ and ‘Europe’s Leading New Resort’, this latest award will help us continue to position Conrad Algarve as an exceptional luxury destination hotel globally as well as locally,” said Joachim Hartl, general manager of Conrad Algarve.
Previous winners of this prestigious award include One & Only The Palm, Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay and the Venetian Macau.
The awards also arrive at a time where Hilton Worldwide is looking to double its portfolio, with eight new openings of Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts and Conrad Hotels & Resorts brands in the next 18 months.
