UK’s finest hotel towel provider named at ‘The Fluffies’

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Malmaison has been named as having the UK’s best hotel towels at ‘The Fluffies’, the UK’s first towel awards for the hotel industry.

Developed by Methven, The Fluffies aims to promote luxurious and relaxing showering experiences, while informing consumers where they can find the best hotel towels in Britain.

To discover which hotel’s towel offering was the fluffiest, independent tests were undertaken at the 20 of the biggest mid to high end hotel brands in the UK by industry research organisation, the 59club. Using state-of-the-art technology, researchers measured bathroom towels across four key criteria: thickness; whiteness; area size; and overall feel, condition and smell.

Each hotel’s towels were tested three times and given an average score, with each category ranked one to 20. The points total across all four criteria confirmed an overall winner.

Malmaison was crowned victorious with a score of 64 out of 80. Park Inn by Radisson and Novotel were close behind, scoring 63.5 and 58.5 respectively.

“We believe that our shower experience is enhanced by, or is diminished by, the quality of a towel. A good, thick, white, fluffy, fresh-smelling towel can make our hotel showering experience even more memorable. As such, we’re delighted to launch the UK’s first award scheme for hotel towels and congratulate Malmaison for claiming the first Fluffies award,” said Methven CEO Steve Lee.

“After a close fought contest between some of the UK’s best hotels, our independent adjudicators from the 59club were thoroughly impressed with Malmaison’s thick, soft-to-touch and whiter than white towels. Through The Fluffies, we hope not only to promote the highest standards throughout the UK’s hotel industry, but to provide consumers with the definitive guide to where the best hotel towels reside in Britain.”
