Managing director of Sir Richard Sutton Limited (SRSL) Christopher Lacey has announced he is stepping down next year after 12 years in his role.

At the request of the board and the Sutton Family, Lacey has agreed to continue on a part time basis until 2026 to ensure a successful transition.

Lacey and Peter Wyman, SRSL’s chairman, will work with leading search consultants over the coming months to find and appoint a new managing director.

Some of Lacey’s achievements include taking on board the trade and assets of both the Sheraton Grand Park Lane Hotel and the Athenaeum Hotel and Apartments on Piccadilly in the heart of London’s West End in 2014 and 2015.

Also in 2017 he led the acquisition of the trade and assets of The Francis Hotel in Bath, The Queens Hotel in Cheltenham and The Castle Hotel in Windsor which are all now successfully trading as the Sutton Hotel Collection.

Wyman said: “Christopher has led the transformation of SRSL from a traditional landed estate family office in 2012 to a modern, operationally diversified commercial organisation, with best-in-class businesses in the hospitality, farming, rural and real estate sectors. We wish him every success during the next stage of his career.”

Lacey added: “With the support of the board, the Sutton Family, and the loyal and dedicated employees, it has been an honour and privilege to have built and led SRSL as a unified team for well over a decade. I have now decided it is time to step down and enable an efficient handover to a new managing director.”

SRSL manages and owns a portfolio of trading assets and businesses in the hotels, property and farming sectors, including the Sutton Hotel Collection, The Athenaeum Hotel and The Sheraton Grand Park Lane Hotel.
