Room Mate Hotels, the Spanish-born high-end boutique hotel group, has announced the acquisition of Lime Tree Hotel in Belgravia

The move marks the group’s first acquisition in London, chosen for its sought-after location, design and much-loved reputation.

Located in the heart of Belgravia and less than a mile from Buckingham Palace, the newly acquired grade II-listed Lime Tree Hotel has been owned and managed by Matt & Charlotte Goodsall since 2008. They completed an extensive refurbishment of the two grade II-listed townhouse in 2020, transforming it into the boutique bolthole it is now.

The 26-room hotel boasts a private walled garden, reminiscent of a country cottage, as well as a welcoming reception and the popular all-day café – The Buttery – which offers breakfast, brunch and lunch in a space that’s open to both guests and the public seven days a week.

The laid-back all-day menu offers brunch classics, savoury treats and home-made cakes, complemented by London-roasted coffee from The Gentlemen Baristas and speciality loose leaf teas.

Room Mate founder and president Kike Sarasola said of the acquisition: “London is one of my favourite cities and a destination everyone should visit at least once in their life. Lime Tree will help us strengthen the Room Mate brand overseas, while also proving that we are a trusted player in this business model. It is our first point of entry in a country where we want to consolidate a presence, and we’re very pleased. We want to continue growing in this market.

“We have been looking to open in the area for years and were waiting for the right address. Lime Tree was the perfect hotel, with its much-loved reputation and family-friendly ambiance, as well as its beautiful design and charming team. We will continue to operate the hotel in its current guise.”
