Hand Picked Hotels, the luxury hotel group owned by Channel Island residents Julia and Guy Hands, has made two new appointments within its senior team in Jersey.
Andrew Coggings has joined the group as the new general manager of The Grand Jersey Hotel and Spa. Coggings returns to Jersey having begun his career at the L’Horizon Beach Hotel and Spa in the late 1980s, leaving the island in 1991 to work with Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Dubai and then at the Beverly Hills Sun InterContinental in South Africa.
Most recently, he held the position of managing director, Entertaining and Hospitality at The Goodwood Group in the UK, overseeing the exclusive private members club at Goodwood House, which has been the home of the Dukes of Richmond for more than 300 years.
Coggings said: “It is my privilege to be returning to Jersey to oversee such a renowned hotel with a fantastic reputation and a wonderful team. Following the recent news that The Grand’s award-winning restaurant Tassili is now listed in the 2025 Michelin Guide, there is huge drive within the team to reach even greater heights, and I look forward to contributing to the development of the hotel and Hand Picked Hotels’ hospitality on the island.”
Simon Beynon has also been appointed to the role of Regional Sales director for the Channel Islands. Based in Jersey, bringing over 20 years of hotel and hospitality sales expertise to the group.
Throughout his career, Beynon has built a “strong reputation” for driving commercial success across some of the UK’s most well-known hotel groups. A specialist in coaching and mentoring sales professionals, he has held key roles at RBH, an independent hotel management company, as well as Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, overseeing operations across the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal.
In his new role, Beynon will focus on cultivating strategic partnerships and strengthening relationships to enhance the guest experience at Hand Picked Hotels’ five properties in the Channel Islands.
Beynon added: “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to relocate with my family to the beautiful Channel Islands and to be representing five iconic hotels in the luxury Hand Picked Hotels collection. I’m looking forward to meeting our existing clients and guests and introducing new partners to our hotels, showcasing all the unique and engaging experiences that we have to offer.”
Julia Hands, chairman and owner of Hand Picked Hotels, said: “People are at the heart of Hand Picked Hotels, and I’m delighted to welcome Andrew and Simon into these important roles. Their passion, experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests in the Channel Islands. I look forward to seeing the positive impact they have on our teams, our guests and the future of our hotels.”
