NoMad Hotels has promoted Kristen Millar to chief brand officer to oversee global design strategy and brand expression as the group expands into Asia and Detroit.

Millar previously served as global brand director and has 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including roles at Eleven Madison Park.

In her new position, she is responsible for creative direction across all brand touchpoints, including interior design, digital platforms, and art programming.

Her appointment coincides with the upcoming opening of NoMad Hilton Singapore later this year and the scheduled 2027 launch of NoMad Detroit in the Michigan Central building.

NoMad, which sits within Hilton’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, is targeting growth in the high-end experience-driven sector.

Millar’s remit includes maintaining a cohesive identity as the brand enters new international markets.

The group currently operates an outpost in London, which opened in 2021, and focuses on integrating local cultural elements into its hotel designs and food and beverage offerings.

The move to appoint a chief brand officer reflects a strategic shift toward centralising creative standards during a phase of rapid international scaling.

According to NoMad, Millar will lead collaborations with designers and artists to develop the brand’s aesthetic in diverse geographic regions, ensuring the bespoke hospitality model remains consistent across the expanding portfolio.

Millar said: “NoMad is a brand that embodies storytelling and the interflow of creativity and hospitality. We will continue to unite talent in design, art curation, and food and beverage to craft a guest experience. It is an honour to take on this role in the brand’s expansion as we introduce NoMad to new markets. We believe that legacy lies in evolution, paying homage to the past while shaping a future defined by attention to detail.”

Andrew Zobler, founder and CEO of The Sydell Group, added: “With several launches ahead, including our first in Asia and NoMad Detroit, our brand is entering a phase of global growth. I’m collaborating with Kristen in her new role as chief brand officer. Her creative vision and understanding of our core values have been vital in shaping NoMad’s international presence, and I am confident she will continue to advance our brand as we expand into new regions.”
