In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Radisson Hotel Group has officially taken over Salzburg’s largest conference hotel and rebranded it under the Radisson Blu name, as Austria’s meetings and events sector is experiencing record growth.

The Radisson Blu Hotel and Conference Centre, Salzburg features 262 rooms and 1,785 square metres of event space. This includes a 960-square-metre ballroom that accommodates up to 1,000 guests.

Located 300 metres from the city’s main railway station, the property connects to direct rail services to Vienna, Munich and Zurich. Salzburg Airport is five kilometres away, and the historic Old Town is a 20-minute walk from the venue.

The site includes 16 event spaces equipped with climate control and audiovisual technology. Its main venue, the Salzburg Hall, can be divided into two sections of 540 and 420 square metres to host corporate events, galas and congresses.

Meeting packages run through the Radisson Meetings scheme and provide carbon offsetting at no extra cost. The venue also holds three environmental accolades: the Austrian Green Meeting label, the EU Ecolabel and the Austrian Ecolabel.

Guest accommodation spans seven categories between 24 and 78 square metres. Facilities include an indoor pool, a Finnish sauna, a fitness room and an on-site restaurant named Baroque, which serves regional cuisine.

Joep Peeters, chief operating officer of franchise EMEA at Radisson Hotel Group, said: “Salzburg has long been one of Austria’s most important congress destinations, and this hotel has been at the center of that for years. Bringing it into the Radisson Blu network means connecting a proven, large-scale venue with international distribution, our Radisson Meetings program and the operational standards that event organizers expect from an established global brand. It also reinforces our growth in key Austrian and Central European markets.”

General manager, Roland Mittermair, added: “Our location offers an unmatched gateway to the city, just steps from the main railway station and minutes from both the airport and the heart of historic Salzburg.

“Beyond our world-class event spaces, we have created an environment where business travelers and leisure guests alike can unwind in our spa, enjoy exceptional regional dining, and find a personal sanctuary.”
