Rockliffe Hall, a 61-bedroom hotel near Darlington, is undergoing a substantial expansion to its spa, creating a “spa garden” – which it claims will be the only one of its kind in the North East.
Work on the 200-square-metre spa garden is now underway, with features including two hot outdoor pools, which will encompass an infinity-edge hydrotherapy pool with massage features, a Jacuzzi, under-floor heated decking and lounge areas, a garden room with a traditional glass-fronted sauna cabin, fire pit, water feature, and landscaped gardens.
Rockliffe Hall said that its spa team is also developing a range of new treatments, spa days and promotions, and working with high profile brands to introduce alongside its spa garden.
Liz Holmes, spa director, said: “This is a major development for Rockliffe Hall. The Spa Garden will really make the resort the go-to place in the North of England as it is going to be the only one of its kind. The new development will overlook Rockliffe Hall’s magnificent grounds and offer even more luxury within the 365 acre estate.”
Warwick Brindle, chairman of Rockliffe Hall, said: “The investment marks the start of an exciting growth phase for our resort with big plans for the coming year as we continue to strive to increase both business and leisure tourism in the region.”
Wharton Construction is managing the project which is expected to open in autumn 2015.
