The Talbot Hotel in the historic market town of Malton has been shortlisted for the title of Small Hotel of the Year in Welcome to Yorkshire’s annual White Rose Awards.
On learning the news, director Tom Naylor Leyland, whose family estate owns the Talbot Hotel, said, “We are thrilled to be shortlisted. It’s only just over a year since we re-opened the hotel following its major restoration so this is praise indeed.”
Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “Competition this year was so fierce that every business making it to the shortlist should consider it a huge achievement in itself as they have had to contend with some real quality competition.”
The annual awards are held each year to raise standards of hospitality throughout the UK and the White Rose Awards are regarded as the most prestigious of all the regions across England. Following the announcements, some of the White Rose category winners will go forward to compete for the Excellence in England national tourism awards.
The winners will be announced at a formal dinner to be held in November.
