In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The Leven brand of hotels is eyeing a wish list of locations for the brand’s expansion, following the successful launch of its first lifestyle hotel in Manchester

The wish list includes a list of locations in the UK and Ireland, including London, Dublin, Birmingham, Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool and Brighton.

According to the hotel brand, sites of interest include “iconic” gateway cities and traveller favourites, locations with a strong food and cocktail culture, creative hubs with “thriving” work-from-home communities, as well as city centres and peripheral neighbourhoods.

The wish list also includes locations in other parts of Europe, including Paris, Bordeaux, Nice and Montpellier in France; Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo in Scandinavia; Lisbon and Porto in Portugal; Rome, Milan, Bologna and Florence in Italy; Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia in Spain; Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland; Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Frankfurt in Germany, and Budapest in Hungary.

In addition, Leven hopes to have locations in the US in New York, Chicago, Downtown Los Angeles, DC, Detroit and Austin.

Leven, which is a joint venture between Manchester entrepreneur brothers, Joshua and Ben Senior of Branco Capital, and Wellbrook Hospitality, plans to launch a series of Leven hotels with coworking, coliving and retail spaces.

Shanthan Balakrishnan, co-founder of Leven and principal of Wellbrook Hospitality, said: “Having enjoyed the resounding success of our inaugural venture in Manchester, the Leven brand is ready to bring its blend of hospitality experiences to new cities.

“With our roots now deeply embedded in Manchester’s vibrant Village neighbourhood, we are actively exploring the key cities on our expansion wish-list. Our mission is to redefine hospitality, one city at a time.”

Joshua Senior added: “Our commitment to creating distinctive spaces that inspire and connect communities means we are keen to expand our horizons. We’re looking forward to sharing the Leven lifestyle with communities further afield, fostering innovation, collaboration and a sense of belonging in every one of our locations.”
