Isle of Mull Hotel and Spa located on Craignure Bay has been crowned Best Island Hotel at this year’s Prestige Awards.
General manager Marc Adams, who joined the four-star hotel in spring last year, picked up the accolade on behalf of the team, with head chef Noel Escobal and Morag McLachlan, Spa and Leisure manager also in attendance.
The hotel, which is popular with guests looking for nature and spa breaks, is part of Crerar Hotels Group which has a collection of 10 hotels and inns across Scotland and the Lake District. Its sister hotel Loch Fyne Hotel and Spa, situated in the town of Inveraray, was awarded Highly Commended in the Best Country Hotel category.
Adams said: “We are ecstatic to have won the title of Best Island Hotel at the highly esteemed Prestige Awards.
“On behalf of myself and the wonderful team, it is an honour that our hard work, commitment and passion for truly authentic hospitality is recognised at this level. Well done to our colleagues at Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa who are also celebrating a win.”
As part of Crerar Hotels multi-million-pound investment across a number of its hotels, Isle of Mull Hotel and Spa underwent a £4m refurbishment, primarily focused on improving its 75 bedrooms and bathrooms, creating a new sea-deck, adding luxury suites, and launching the Oran na Mara Bistro which has one AA Rosette.
The investment also included launching Driftwood Spa, a wellness facility with four treatment rooms, a 17-metre swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms. Outdoor facilities include a Wilderness Spa with a hot tub, sauna and swim deck for wild swimming.
Since the transformation, the hotel has become known for its spa breaks and its luxurious rooms and suites for those looking to explore the island and beyond. The hotel has previously been awarded the Best Country Hotel title for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023.
Adams said: “What makes this award even more special is the fact that it is voted for by the public, which means our guests continue to have an exceptional guest experience, whether that’s for a spa retreat or an island getaway with the family.”
